Can someone bring me Combeferre’s sweater? I need a snuggle. That would probably be another thing that Combeferre does for Enjolras—in that weird liminal period between summer and autumn, where it’s cold sometimes but still nice sometimes, Enjolras doesn’t wear a jacket (“It was sunny when I left home!”), Combeferre just sighs and gives him his sweater.

Oh my goodness, the sleeves are too long for him. And now poor Combeferre is shivering in his button down.
And maybe Enjolras and Combeferre fighting about the perception of self-worth in relation to sweaters.
Enjolras watched Combeferre rub his arms with his hands, his body naturally pulling in on itself to conserve heat.
“You don’t have to do this every time, you know,” he said. “It won’t kill me to be a little cold. I didn’t wear my jacket, I should deal with the consequences.”
Combeferre shrugged. “You can buy me a coffee at the Musain, then. Seriously, it’s fine.”
Enjolras pursed his lips, but the silence only lasted for a moment.
“It would be just as bad if you got sick,” he said. “Everyone acts like if something happens to me, the world comes to an end, but I’m no more important than anyone else.”
“I never said that you were.”Enjolras’s walking picked up pace. “And did you ever stop to consider that I might feel guilty about you getting sick? You always do things for me, you’re always trying to keep me safe. But every time I try to worry about you, or anyone else, they wave it off, like it’s not important.”
Combeferre stopped. “Enjolras—”
Enjolras kept going, walking fast, and Combeferre jogged to catch up with him. “I worry about you, Combeferre. All the time. I know I’m important to the group and everyone needs me, but I need you! What’s the point of being warm and cozy and safe if I don’t have you?”
Combeferre grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him back. But before he could say anything, Enjolras had him wrapped in a fierce hug. He was shaking, despite the sweater.
“I don’t want you to think you’re not important. You are important. The most important,” Enjolras said quietly. “To me.”
Combeferre hugged him tighter. “I don’t think that.”
For a moment they stood there, holding each other. When they let go, Enjolras wriggled out of Combeferre’s sweater, carefully turning it right side out again. He thrust it back at him.
“Then prove it.”
Wow I do not know where that came from. But I do think that sometimes Enjolras would get a little tired of people treating him like the part-human part-metaphor wonder boy.
